Standing by a river, Confucius said: "Time goes on and on like the flowing water in the river, never ceasing day or night."

 

 

夫子在川觀水，子貢問曰:"君子見水必觀何也？"

孔子曰:"以其不息者，似乎道之，流行而無盡矣，

水之德，若此是故，君子必觀焉。"
